Super Eagles-ignored Kingdom Osayi celebrates Player of the Month award with another clean sheet
Kingdom Osayi, the Doma United goalkeeper, whom the Super Eagles have ignored, has been rewarded for his impressive form this season in the NPFL.
Osayi has been named the NPFL Player of the Month for November after an incredible run of clean sheets with the Savannah Tigers.
The Doma shot-stopper demonstrated his prowess in between the sticks with yet another shutout to celebrate his award in style.
Another Clean Sheet Masterclass
In the month in review, the goalkeeper conceded no goals to extend his record to seven matches without letting in a goal.
Osayi was presented with his Player of the Month Award in front of the home fans at the Pantami Stadium ahead of the local derby against Kano Pillars on Saturday.
Following the award, he marked the occasion with another clean sheet as Doma United defeated Pillars 1-0 to go top of the NPFL table.
Emmanuel Ekpeyong was the hero for United as he scored the decisive winner against 10-man Kano Pillars, but the day belonged to his teammate and goalkeeper, Osayi.
With the clean sheet against Pillars, Osayi extended his record to nine clean sheets in a row and 10 in 13 matches this season.
Osayi’s latest show underscores his consistency and highlights his importance to Doma and their lofty ambitions this season. The Savannah Tigers are pushing for a place in CAF competitions next season but are currently the surprise package in the title for the NPFL title.
Super Eagles speculation ignited
As Kingdom Osayi continues to impress for United in the NPFL, speculation about his inclusion in the Super Eagles continues to grow.
With the AFCON2023 slated to kick off next month in Cote d’Ivoire, Osayi’s eyecatching displays have caught the attention, leading to conversations about a possible invitation to the national team giving the current goalkeeping dilemma in the team
However, despite his record, Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro is yet to mention his name as he steps up his search for better prospects in his quest to win the AFCON.
