Tottenham coach joins Mourinho, Conte in exclusive EPL exclusive club after win over Man City
Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad has elevated the manager Thomas Frank into an exclusive managerial club.
The Danish boss became only the third manager to beat Pep Guardiola away from home with two different clubs, joining former Spurs coaches Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.
Goals from Brennan Johnson and Joao Palhinha sealed the three points for Spurs against a subdued City side, and with it, handed Frank his second landmark win over Guardiola after guiding Brentford to a famous away triumph in November 2022.
Mourinho’s double feat came with Real Madrid and Manchester United while Conte’s came with Chelsea and later Tottenham.
And now Frank joins them, having done so with Brentford and Spurs.
Spurs also carved out a slice of Premier League history as they became the first side to score the opening goal in five consecutive league away games at the Etihad.
Only Blackburn Rovers had previously achieved that feat against City across any period, between 1993 and 2002.
For Guardiola, the defeat is a worrying marker. Tottenham have now beaten him 10 times in his managerial career, more than any other opponent, with only Liverpool matching that tally.
