The Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon is gearing up for its highly anticipated 2023 edition, set to be a remarkable celebration of athleticism, natural beauty, and community in the heart of the Kasese.

With its awe-inspiring landscapes and renowned reputation, this marathon continues to attract local and international runners, solidifying its place as a must-attend event on the global running calendar.

This year's marathon introduces an exciting addition with the unveiling of a brand-new 42 km route, meticulously designed to provide runners with an unforgettable experience.

Embarking on a journey through the magnificent Queen Elizabeth National Park, participants will traverse the Equator and be rewarded with breathtaking vistas of the majestic Rwenzori Mountains.

This addition aims to showcase the remarkable beauty and rich biodiversity that make Uganda a truly exceptional destination for athletes and nature enthusiasts alike.

"The 2023 Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon is truly a one-of-a-kind marathon experience," expressed Amos Wekesa, a representative from the event.

"We are very excited to invite Ugandan and international runners to join us in Kasese and immerse themselves in the breathtaking landscapes of Queen Elizabeth National Park while being awestruck by the beauty of the Rwenzori Mountains."

“Last year was just a start. We are targeting about 3000 runners this year with a combination of local and foreign runners.”

“We want to emulate the Kilimanjaro marathon that has grown in stature” Wekesa noted.

The half marathon, which has gained global recognition as one of the most scenic half-marathons in the world, remains unchanged from last year's successful edition.

Taking runners through the captivating foothills of the Rwenzori Mountain range, this route offers an unparalleled opportunity to experience nature's splendour while challenging personal limits.

Events sponsors led by Tusker Lite announced a UGX 800,000,000 sponsorship noted. The price monies have been increased from UGX 50,000,000 to UGX 100,000,000 that will be paid to the elite runners.

Registration for the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon 2023 is now open on the marathon website.

Organizers encourage both local and international participants to secure their spots early to avoid missing out on this extraordinary event.

EAC citizens and residents can register for UGX 50,000, while international runners can secure their spot for USD 50.
