Morans had opened their campaign on a high with a dominant 62-52 win over Ivory Coast and hopes of getting a medal were in sight.

The Kenya national men's basketball side, Morans succumbed to a 46-55 loss to Morocco in the quarterfinal and have since been knocked out of the ongoing FIBA AfroCan in Luanda, Angola.

Head coach Cliff Owuor revealed that the reason for their poor display at the event was a poor game plan. He lauded the players for their impressive show in the third quarter but insisted that they did not stick to the game plan as discussed.

Owuor further lauded Morocco for their great game tactics and revealed they also pushed Team Kenya to make some very hasty decisions that cost them a slot in the semifinal.

"We didn't stay within our game plan. We did well in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, we didn't get the right shots. Credit to Morocco because of the pressure they put on our guys, which forced bad decisions,” Owuor said, as per FIBA.

On his part, guard Erick Mutoro also noted that they did not give their all in the game hence the disappointing finish.

"It's the quarterfinals. You have to give your all, otherwise, you go home. In the first quarter, they shot a lot of three-point shots - especially number 22 (Jihad Benchlikha). He sank like four three-points and that's what we struggled to fight the whole game,” Mutoro said.

This was their second loss in the tournament as they had also lost to Gabon (63-66). They had opened their campaign on a high with a dominant 62-52 win over Ivory Coast and hopes of getting a medal were in sight but they now come back home empty-handed but with tons of experience.

During the 2019 edition held in Mali, the Morans managed a second-place finish and were hoping to go one step better but their hopes have now been shattered by Morocco.
