Youngster Ronald Lutaaya can’t wait to get going ahead of the Cricket Cranes tour in Qatar.

Lawrence Mahatlane’s side will play a four-match series against their hosts, Qatar, and one of the players on the 14-man squad is the exciting young batsman Ronald Lutaaya.

The 19-year-old says he is excited about the tour, where he wants to do his primary role, scoring runs for the team.

“It hasn’t been that easy for me because I had to work harder, but when it’s not easy, it makes the future easy,” he told Pulse Sports.

“My target is to score runs because that’s my primary job on the team and also helping out the team in any way possible.” The left-handed batsman also credited the role played by people he called ‘mentors’ who he says have guided him along the way.

“I also have to appreciate my mentors in coaches and fellow players who have motivated and encouraged me to keep performing well,” Lutaaya noted.

Lutaaya was the star man at the inaugural Waterfalls Men’s T-20 league, he opened for his side, the Kayakers, against Bujjagali Rafters in the final, knocking 116 off 65 balls as the Kayakers won by 29 runs, and he went on to win the best batsman award.

With the return of Ronak Patel, along with Simon Ssesazi and Roger Mukasa, making the trip, Ronald Lutaaya will have loads of experience to learn from as he continues to master his craft.

The Cricket Cranes squad is expected to leave for Qatar on Tuesday, 14th March.
