However, the Cricket Cranes assistant coach Jackson Ogwang credited Uganda’s improved bowling on the day.

The Cricket Cranes’ 183-run victory over Qatar at the ongoing four one-day international series on Saturday at the Doha University of Sports Science and Technology needed grit and effort from the team.

Cyrus Kakuru led Uganda knocking 60 runs off 70, both Kenneth Waiswa and Brian Masaba contributed 39 runs, while Riazat Ali Shah and Simon Ssesazi managed 25 runs a piece.

However, the Cricket Cranes assistant coach Jackson Ogwang credited Uganda’s improved bowling on the day.

“After our first loss, we knew that the only way we had to bounce back was to bowl well, and that’s exactly what the boys did on Saturday," Ogwang noted on Saturday.

"Credit to the bowlers, especially Kenneth Waiswa and Cosmas Kyewuta, for the shift," he added.

Kenneth Waiswa (3/8) and Henry Ssenyondo (2/9) were outstanding, as well as Cosmas Kyewuta, who came in for Juma Miyagi and the veteran Frank Nsubuga who was also in for Alpesh Ramjani.

With the Cricket Cranes now left with two more outings Ogwang and his Supremo Lawrence Mahatlane will be hoping the boys win the final two games.

All this is intended to boost their preparations for the upcoming schedule later in the year.

Uganda is in Qatar for four one-day international series, which are now tied one all.
