The Batball Regional Cricket tour is headed to the central region in Entebbe.
The tournament, which has been played in three regions across the country in the North, Nile and Eastern regions, will see four teams battle it out in Entebbe from 18th - 19th March at the Entebbe cricket oval.
The teams whose names have been derived from the common birds in the different regions for locals to identify with easily include Naddibanga, Ensega, Akasumagizi, and Kalooli.
Batball tour CEO Martin Ondeko said that the tournament has so far been exciting in the three editions played and stressed that the Entebbe edition will be more captivating.
“The Batball programme is a grassroots cricket project aimed at targeting young cricket players at the U-19 level to play more cricket as they try to graduate to the national team,” he told Pulse Sports.
“We’ve done three editions, and they’ve been exciting, so Entebbe should be another great experience for the fans because we also plan on having entertainment.”
The teams will be captained by Ronald Omara (Naddibanga), Munigwa Hamid (Ensega), Christopher Kidega (Akasumagizi) and Asiimwe Abdallah Mohammed (Kalooli).
Agak has won the past edition in the North, Buutu in the Nile region and Ejibat in the eastern region.
