The ICC has chosen Uganda as one of only three African countries where the ICC World Cup trophy will visit during its global trophy tour.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) continues to appreciate the stable growth in Ugandan Cricket.

The ICC has chosen Uganda as one of only three African countries where the ICC World Cup trophy will visit during its global trophy tour.

The World Cup trophy for the 50 overs is set to visit Uganda between the 25th and 27th of August; Nigeria and South Africa are the other African countries set to host the trophy, which will visit 18 countries and 40 cities.

“We want to leverage this opportunity to continue our primary role of spreading the game throughout the country,” Uganda Cricket Association CEO Allan Mugume said.

“We want to use this opportunity as well to connect the game to key partners in the growth of our game as we seek new partnerships that will help in the development of cricket in Uganda.”

Several activities have been lined up during the trophy tour, including the official opening of the school’s cricket week, which Jinja Senior Secondary School will host.

UCA is also trying to secure an appointment with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, using the visit to solicit more support for the game.

The ICC World Cup is set to take place in India from October 5th to 19th, 2023; England are the defending champions.
