Michael Nuwagaba will remain chairman of the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) following his re-election to serve his second and final two-year term.

At the Annual General Meeting in Kampala on Saturday which was also elective, Nuwagaba was elected back into the top seat unopposed like it was the case at the start of his first term

The former Cricket Cranes player says his target in his final term is to concentrate on the national teams.

Improve their rankings and also attain ODI status as well as have a cricket facility.

“We shall maintain the same speed on some of these things like focusing on the national teams as we push for higher rankings and getting close to ODI status,” he noted.

“The other issue is the one regarding facilities, we have been pushing for land and it’s something we shall maintain, we have collected more funds but we want to improve our pathways to get more partners.”

In the same vein, Michael Kavuma was elected as the new honorable secretary replacing Alvin Bagaya while Rita Tinka returned as the Women’s representative on the board.

Praminder Garcha and Enock Barumba were also elected as the new trustees to join Mr. Steve Lumonya.

The rest of the board compromises of Benjamin Musoke (Tornado Delegate), Alvin Bagaya (Nile Delegate), Premal Yagnick (Premier Delegate), Ketan Shukla (KICC Delegate), Jeremy Kibuuka Musoke (Tornado Bee Delegate) and Charles Waiswa (JACC Delegate).

The recent development of awarding the Victoria Pearls players contracts, the first in Ugandan Women cricket can be listed as some of the milestones UCA has registered in 2023.

Both the men and women’s national teams have engagements this year with the Victoria Pearls preparing for a number of series.

The Victoria Series at home, the annual Kwibuka in Rwanda, and the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in South Africa.

The Cricket Cranes are also preparing for the upcoming ICC Global T20 World Cup Qualifiers which will be hosted in Kampala.
