The Victoria Pearls put up a slow but purposeful chase as they picked up a six-wicket win over UAE in the Victoria Series on Thursday at the Lugogo cricket oval.

Chaya Maghal won the toss and elected to bat, putting up 98/7 in 20 overs. Uganda limited UAE to 28/1 in the power play, and in the end, they only managed 98/7.

Captain Consy Aweko picked up two wickets and got support from Irene Alumo, Evelyn Anyipo and Janet Mbabazi, who each picked a wicket each.

Kavisha Kumari Nanayakkarewasan Egodage managed 38(48), Esha Rohit Oza added 24(33) balls, while Kevin Awino and Immaculate Nakyisuyi ran out Chaya Mughal after posting 12 runs off 20 balls.

In the chase, the opening stand of 31 from Kevin Awino 25(33) and Proscovia Alako 18(16) put Uganda on track.

Then Immaculate Nakyisuuyi 18(16) including three boundaries and Stephanie Nampiina 13(15) not out all put the Victoria Pearls on the path to victory.

The win takes the Victoria Pearls to the second on the log with four points, level with table leaders Tanzania, with both teams having picked up two wins.

The United Arab Emirates move to fourth on the log with two points.
