Young Africans would go on to lose 3-2 during the post-match penalties, after it had ended without a goal in 180 minutes of nervewracking action.

East African powerhouse Young Africans SC will curse the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) after it appeared to wrongly deny Stephen Aziz Ki a goal against Mamelodi Sundowns in the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League.

Aziz Ki thought he had given Young Africans the lead in the 58th minute when his spectacular drive hit the underside of the crossbar, before the ball dropped past the goal-line.

However, Mauritanian referee Beida Dahane, upon consultation from the VAR, denied the goal.

Young Africans would go on to lose 3-2 during the post-match penalties, after it had ended without a goal in 180 minutes of nervewracking action.

Uganda Cranes defender Gift Fred came on in the 87th minute for Bakara Mwamnyeto in a heartbreaking effort for his team.

Midfielder and Cranes deputy skipper Khalid Aucho did not make the match-day squad as he yet to recover from an injury that has kept him out for close to a month.

On the other hand, former Cranes captain Dennis Masinde Onyango watched from the bench as Ronwen Williams guided Mamelodi Sundowns into the last four.

Williams saved penalties from Aziz Ki and Dickson Job as Sundowns set up a date with one of Asec Mimosas of Ivory Coast or Tunisia's Esperance.
