The former Denmark Under 21 international, who now represents Harambee Stars at senior level, looked solid although Viborg lost to the Champions League outfit on Sunday.

Harambee Stars’ versatile defender Daniel Anyembe was solid despite Viborg’s 2-0 loss to Danish giants FC Copenhagen in a Superliga match played at the Parken Stadium on Sunday evening

Playing at right back, he was decent defensively for Viborg as he made two clearances, attempted one interception, blocked one shot, and attempted four tackles.

He won four of his nine ground duels and won his singular aerial duel. On the ball, he was accurate with 69 of his 75 attempted passes and attempted seven long balls, five of which were successful, as well as one key pass.

The match got off to a lively start, with both sides creating a couple of inroads in each other’s half. In the eighth minute, Copenhagen, who are set to play Manchester United in the group stages of this season’s UEFA Champions League, took the lead through Roony Bardghji after Viborg’s Oliver Bundgaard lost the ball.

This allowed Copenhagen’s Elias Jelert, who had won the ball, to poke it to Bardghji, who then stormed with the ball forward before slotting the ball into the back of the net.

Copenhagen continued to control proceedings heading into the break, and they added their tally three minutes into the second half.

Denis Vavro took matters into his own hands. From a distance of over 30 meters, the Slovak took aim and extended Copenhagen’s lead thanks to his unstoppable ferocious shot.

In the final minutes, Viborg got a slightly better grip offensively, but apart from an attempt from Jamie Jacobs, they never really came close to reducing the deficit, subjecting Anyembe’s side to a 2-0 defeat.

Anyembe is now expected to link up with Kenya in Qatar for their international friendly against the 2022 World Cup hosts in Doha on September 7.
