Coach Sadiq Ssempijji parted ways with Mbarara City after guiding them to promotion. He is the prime candidate to take over at Jinja North.

Coach Sadiq Ssempijji’s ratings have continued to rise after his recent exploits with Mbarara City.

The coach played a role in the background of Arua Hill’s promotion and winning the FUFA Big League title in 2021.

He was part of the team as assistant coach to Livingstone Mbabazi in their debut season, where the Kongolo finished fourth in the Uganda Premier League.

He left the shadows in 2022 when he moved to Mbarara City but could not save them from relegation.

The team lost a number of key players, but Ssempijji remained and rebuilt a force that surprised many to earn a promotion back to the top flight instantly.

The coach decided to end his relationship with the club and is now free.

However, a source close to the proceedings at Jinja North has revealed that the coach is on their radar and has already initiated talks.

“The club is looking for a good coach who can steer the team to the Uganda Premier League, and the club has zeroed down on him as the best person to handle the business,” the source told Pulse Sports.

“We have looked at his track record, management style and the way he organized Mbarara City and feel he is the right person but we’re at an advanced stage of discussion, hoping to close the deal next week,” he added.

Ssempijji neither denied nor confirmed the developments but revealed that a number of clubs, including some in the top flight, have approached him.

Abduswamadu Musafiri coached Jinja North before he left mid-season.
