UPL KCCA sweat past Arua Hill to go six points clear

The win leaves KCCA on 35 points, six ahead of second-placed BUL and seven better than defending champions Vipers.

KCCA stretched their lead at the top of the Startimes Uganda Premier League to six points with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Arua Hill Friday at Lugogo.

The home side won their second game of the second round after getting the perfect start.

They were up 2-0 inside the first 13 minutes of the game and eventually had to hold on for all three points.

Arua Hill asked questions and hand chances but it is the home side that was ruthless in front of goal.

Muhammad Shaban headed home from Rogers Mato’s cross in the sixth minute to give the hosts the lead.

The forward then capitalised on a defensive lapse to slot home the second in the 13th minute.

It was a dream start for the hosts but momentum quickly swang the other side as Arua Hill looked for a way back into the game.

Okello was put through on goal by Mato but his chip over the keeper could not find the target.

Arua Hill struck back through Isaac Ogwang in the 18th minute and dominated the bigger part of the first half.

Bright Vuni headed over the bar from Wahab’s corner kick.

Tshisungu Kankonde twice failed to hit the target, heading wide from the far post and over the bar from Allan Okello’s cross.

Mato had his goal disallowed for handball before the halftime break.

Morley Byekwaso introduced Ashraf Mugume and Arafat Usama for Emmanuel Wasswa and Moses Waiswa early in the second half.
