Kampala Queens have collected 40 points from 14 games, and after nailing the trophy, they will look forward to maintaining their unbeaten run in the remaining four games.

Kampala Queens fought until the end of the 2021/22 FUFA Women Super League season before they lost the title to She Corporate by a difference of one goal.

It must have left everyone associated with the club uncomfortable, but they had to move on from the pain and instead use it as a motivation for the new season.

Manager Hamza Lutalo and captain Zaina Namuleme related Kampala Queens' failure last year to the outstanding success of this campaign.

"It was a character of a 'never give up mentality," Lutalo told Pulse Sports after Kampala Queens clinched the 2022/23 FWSL title.

"After coming close and failing last season, the team could have struggled after that, but it became stronger."

"That was generated from the fact that they learnt, swallowed the bitter pill, and accepted failure," Lutalo added.

It is Kampala Queens' first league title, and it meant a lot to the current bunch of players, including skipper Namuleme who has struggled with injuries.

"I individually feel emotional but proud of my teammates who have been remarkable throughout the season," Namuleme noted.

"We almost won it last season, and looking at how we lost tells us that it was not the right timing."

"The team did not give up, and following the solid performances in each game this season, our efforts have been rewarded," she added.
