Both signings solidify Lugazi FC's ambitions for the upcoming seasons, leaving fans and analysts optimistic about the club's future prospects.

Lugazi FC is laying the groundwork for a formidable future after announcing the high-profile acquisition of forward James Okiror while simultaneously confirming a contract extension for their stalwart right full-back, Muhammad Lubega.

The 25-year-old striker, Okiror joins the second division club from Lira-based club Blacks Power FC on a three-year contract that will keep him with the club until 2026.

"It’s a pleasure to be here at Lugazi FC and I’m very happy to be a part of this great club,” Okiror expressed.

"As I say, I’ve watched quite a lot and it’s a very big club, and I hope I can give everything that I’ve got in order to help the team."

Okiror’s attacking potential makes him an invaluable addition to the squad, and carries significance experience is the FUFA Big League having previously played for the Saints FC junior team and Bukedea Town Council FC.

During the 2021/22 season, he demonstrated his scoring capabilities by netting nine goals and providing eight assists in 18 appearances for Blacks Power FC.

On the defensive end, Lugazi has also ensured the continuation of Muhammad Lubega as part of the squad for another three years.

Lubega has been a mainstay in the club's backline, impressing fans and management alike.

“Since day one when I joined the club, I felt so much appreciation from the fans, my teammates, and the staff that I could be a very important member of this football club,” Lubega shared.

Although a knee injury ended his 2022/23 season abruptly, Lubega is committed to returning stronger.

“It has been going well; unfortunately, last season for me personally has been a season to forget, to learn from and take with me,” he explained.

"But I have enjoyed my time here and will keep enjoying it in the next couple of years, altogether with all of you."

“All the hard work we’ve put in so far continues, and I am looking forward to what the future brings together with Lugazi FC. I’m delighted, very happy, and proud,” Lubega concluded.

His contract extension is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and team spirit, qualities that will undoubtedly serve Lugazi FC well as they aim for new heights.

This window, Lugazi has added five promising talents to the ranks including Opio Abraham, Freedom Mungudit, Mubarak Mitala, Andrew Odong, and Samuel Nsubuga.

Their business has also seen Derrick Ochen and Louis Anguti committed their futures to the club by penning contract extensions that will keep them in Lugazi colors until 2026.
