Alejandro Garnacho had a goal ruled out for offside by VAR early in the second half but got on the scoresheet minutes later with a well-taken finish. He scored again in the 71st minute to get United back on level terms and Rasmus Hojlund got his first Premier League goal to seal an excellent comeback.

Manchester United needed to come from two goals down to secure a superb 3-2 win over Aston Villa in the Boxing Day Premier League bout at Old Trafford.

And, this is how Pulse Sports Uganda rated the Man United players in their historic comeback.

Andre Onana

Too close to his goal line for both goals. Made a decent save to deny Leon Bailey at 2-1. 5

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Difficult to recall him ever entering the Villa half but he made the odd decent defensive intervention as United remained disciplined. 6

Jonny Evans

Was practically a one-man defence at 0-0 with some key interceptions and blocks. Huge goal-saving clearance from John McGinn seconds after it went 2-2. 8

Raphael Varane

Failed to take command at either of the set-pieces Villa scored from but otherwise okay from attacks in open play. 6

Diogo Dalot

Not for the first time, he performed like a right-back playing at left-back. Ventured into the final third to supplement attacks and improved. 6

Had another midfield partner in Christian Eriksen for a third game running and Villa's at dead-ball kick exposed Mainoo's inexperience. He recovered to play creditably. 6

Christian Eriksen

Offered some craft but he failed to control a pass that would have enabled him a shot at goal. Sprung a number of attacks and gave United a measure of control. 7

Marcus Rashford

Back in the team and back on the left. There were glimpses of the Rashford of last season and he assisted Alejandro Garnacho's first goal. 7

Bruno Fernandes

When he was not appealing before the ball went in for Villa's first or moaning, he was having a difference in attack and created multiple chances. 6

Alejandro Garnacho

United's most threatening forward, even from the right. Had one goal disallowed for offside but then tapped in for 2-1 and equalised. 9

Rasmus Hojlund

Bickered with Rashford and was rounded on by Fernandes for failing to make a particular run. Persisted and scored brilliantly. 8

Scott McTominay

Came on shortly before it went 3-2. 6

United were too lightweight in midfield and Dalot at left-back had predictably dire consequences. Eschewing a half-time change paid off. 7
