The coach allegedly punched Mbeya City Coach Abdallah Mubiru after Mashujaa FC scored the winning goal, leaving Mubiru lying flat on the floor and requiring medical attention.

The Mashujaa FC goalkeeping coach's unsportsmanlike behavior marred an otherwise celebratory moment for the team.

The coach allegedly punched Mbeya City Coach Abdallah Mubiru after Mashujaa FC scored the winning goal, leaving Mubiru lying flat on the floor and requiring medical attention.

In response to the incident, Mashujaa Coach Abdul Mingange has condemned the attack and offered his apologies to Mubiru and the entire football community.

Speaking about the incident, Coach Abdul Mingange expressed his disappointment and stressed the importance of fair play in football.

"What he did was not fair play. Football is about love, no need to hurt each other. As coaches, we need to respect one another," Mingange stated firmly.

“I have to say, I apologize to the coach, and it is bad what really happened in that moment. I don’t know exactly what led to it, but I have to say the behaviour was out of line.”

“We have had a talk with him (goalkeeping coach), and he knows what I think about it, but I think the coach (Mubiru) should take heart,” he added.

The incident took place during the Tanzania Premier League relegation playoff between Mbeya City and Mashujaa FC at the Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya.

After Mashujaa FC scored the decisive goal in the 87th minute, members of the team's staff, including the goal scorer, John Mudeba, celebrated on the field.

However, as they returned to their technical area, the goalkeeping coach, later identified through TV replays, attacked Abdallah Mubiru with a blow to the face.

The impact of the attack left Mubiru on the ground, clutching his face, and immediate medical attention was required.

It took several minutes before Mubiru could stand up and briefly return to the technical bench before being rushed to the hospital for further evaluation.

Recognizing the severity of the incident, the referee promptly issued a red card to the goalkeeping coach and escorted him away from the field as fans threatened to become unruly.

The referee's swift action demonstrated the gravity of the situation and the commitment to maintaining order within the game.

Despite the unfortunate incident, Mashujaa FC emerged as the winners, securing a 1-0 victory and gaining promotion to the top flight with a 4-1 aggregate score.

However, the joy of their achievement was overshadowed by the reprehensible behaviour displayed by their goalkeeping coach.
