Gor Mahia's coach McKinstry reveals the club's biggest transfer deal in recent times, marking a significant financial milestone

Record Football Kenya Federation Premier League champions Gor Mahia have once again made headlines not just for their prowess on the field but for their acumen in the transfer market.

The recent transfer of the prodigious talent, Rodgers Mugisha, to the Danish club AC Horsens, has been hailed as one of the club's most significant financial triumphs in recent history.

The air at Gor Mahia is one of pride and optimism, as they navigate this lucrative chapter, potentially eclipsing their previous high-profile deal involving Jacques Tuyisenge.

Under the stewardship of coach Johnathan McKinstry, K'Ogalo has seen a resurgence not only in their playstyle but also in their strategic approach to player development and asset management.

"Yeah so obviously we received a good bid for Rogers, you know it was a really good financial offer for the club and definitely it's probably the biggest transfer fee we've received in quite a while," McKinstry remarked, his tone a mixture of pride and discreet satisfaction.

Mugisha, whose journey with Gor Mahia has been nothing short of meteoric, penned a two-year deal with AC Horsens after a spellbinding six-month stint with the FKF Premier League record Champions.

The details of the transfer, shrouded in the usual confidentiality, have sparked widespread speculation and interest.

While the exact figures remain under wraps, it is evident that the deal is a financial windfall for the club.

"He goes off to Denmark, to the AC Horsens, with our best wishes. And the club has benefited quite significantly from that transfer. So I know people will like to talk numbers, but that's not for me," McKinstry added, maintaining the club's stance on the confidentiality of the deal.

This transfer is a beacon of Gor Mahia's strategic foresight, notably reminiscent of the significant transaction that saw Jacques Tuyisenge join Petro Atletico of Angola.

That deal, which stood as a benchmark for the club, involved a hefty $1 million signing-on fee, marking it as the most expensive outgoing transfer in the club's history until now.

The narrative of Gor Mahia's transfer dealings is one of progressive growth and shrewd management.

The club's previous record transfer, which saw Michael Olunga move to IF Djurgardens for a staggering $1.6 million, laid the groundwork for what has become a tradition of excellence and financial prudence.

McKinstry's vision for the club extends beyond the influx of transfer funds.

"We thank Rogers for his contribution. He's been a real sort of breath of fresh air in the group. We wish he'd been here longer, but as with any player, if we get a transfer offer that we think is good for the club and we think is a good opportunity for the player, we'll never stand in their way," he noted.

"So yeah, we wish him luck, and you know, we'll look to reinvest that profit back into developing the team and what we're doing over the one year," he concluded.
