SC Villa and Maroons played out an entertaining draw that saw Alfred Odong rescue a point for the Jogoos after they came from behind to hold the hosts at the Prisons Grounds in Luzira.

In a game that initially was balanced with a goalless first half, the second half provided the fireworks that the fans had been waiting for.

Fred Amaku opened the scoring for the hosts, but SC Villa's Odong answered back.

The match began with both teams cautiously testing each other, well aware of the need for a positive result.

SC Villa, on the other hand, was seeking redemption following their opening day defeat to Kitara.

Despite the slow start, Maroons had an opportunity to take the lead just before halftime when Darius Ojok found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but he couldn't capitalize.

In the 60th minute, Amaku, with a well-placed header, converted Ojok's cross from the right to break the deadlock and give Maroons the lead.

Just five minutes later, central defender Odong, tied the score.

Despite both teams pushing for a late winner, there were no more goals in the match. The final whistle blew, confirming a 1-1 draw.

The result leaves Maroons in fifth place with four points after two games, as they continue their promising start to the season. SC Villa, meanwhile, occupies the ninth position.

The action in the Premier League will resume next week, with SC Villa hosting NEC, and Maroons will have to wait until October 3rd for their next fixture when they visit KCCA.
