Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC has continued to benefit from their main feeder side, St Mary's Secondary School Kitende (SMASK) for budding talents.

Young SMASK attacker Fazil Tumwine has been elevated to the senior team, having impressed head coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi.

"Forward Fazil Tumwine alias Chopla has been elevated to Vipers SC first team squad from our main feeder side, St Mary's Boarding School, Kitende (SMASK)," Vipers confirmed in a statement.

"Tumwine who has been training with us since Coach Livingstone Mbabazi arrived at St Mary's Stadium caught the coach's eye with his unusurping strength and prowess in front of goal."

Codenamed "Chopler," he has been one of the hottest attacking prospects in school football, and the Venoms intend to tie him down to a senior-team contract.

Tumwine was part of and excelled with the SMASK team that clinched glory in the 2023 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) games held in Fort Portal.

SMASK also won the East African games (FEASSSA), with Tumwine scoring in the final that ended 1-1 with Amus, before the former won on penalties.

This season, Vipers has massively benefitted from the home-grown talent, with the likes of Jack Komakech, Enock Luyima Abubakali Walusimbi and Frank Katongole earning their debuts.

The school has, over the years, birthed talents that have played for the Venoms, other Uganda Premier League sides, and the Uganda Cranes, while some have taken the professional path.

Stars, including Farouk Miya, Abdu Lumala, Halid Lwaliwa, Bobosi Byaruhanga, Yunus Sentamu, Steven Sserwadda, Richard Basangwa, Karim Watambala and a host more, have been hatched at Kitende.
