Clubs have made several signings, with many snapping up the free agents, but with five days to the end of the window, several players remain free agents, as shared below.

The football season is upon us worldwide; in Uganda, the StarTimes Uganda Premier League is scheduled to kick off on 14th September, even though the FUFA Super Eight has kicked off the new season.

Clubs have made several signings, with many snapping up the free agents, but with five days to the end of the window, several players remain free agents, as shared below.

Allan Kateregga

The gifted left-footed Uganda Cranes winger is still available on the market after his contract with DR. Congo side Saint Eloi Lupopo ended last season. Kateregga has been linked to several regional sides, like APR FC in Rwanda and a possible return to Kenya.

Allan Kayiwa

For Allan Kayiwa to still be a free agent is shocking. The UPL top scorer last season has been silent all through the window despite solid links to former side Vipers SC.

Kayiwa scored 13 goals as he helped guide Express FC to 10th place finish on the log; reports indicate he is more interested in a foreign move than staying in the UPL.

Benjamin Ochan

The experienced Uganda Cranes shot-stopper is still available on the market after he parted ways with former club KCCA FC. Ochan completed his second stint at the Lugogo-based side as he captained the side to a second-place league finish.

Reports indicate that Benja could sit out the first round as he weighs the different offers, especially outside Uganda.

Charles Lukwago

Charles Lukwago is another goalkeeper available; the former Proline and KCCA FC goalminder ended his stint with Ethiopian giants St. George after leading them to the Ethiopian League title. He has been linked to a return to Ethiopia with another club.

The 30-year-old is back in Uganda training with the Kasasiro Boys and was also included in the Uganda Cranes squad preparing for the crucial 2023 AFCON qualifier against Niger.

Ibrahim Orit

Orit is another free agent yet to be snapped up by any side as the transfer deadline counts down; the 25-year-old pacy winger was one of seven players released by Vipers last season. He is being linked to a return to former side Mbarara City FC.

Nelson Senkatuka

Striker Nelson Senkatuka also makes the list, having yet to extend his stay at Soltilo Bright Stars ahead of the new season, at least for now.

The 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup winner seems resigned to staying with Soltilo Bright Stars, although he could jump ship if the right offer comes around.

Iguma Denis

Iguma Denis parted ways mutually with KCCA FC in July and is still available on the market; the versatile defender has not been linked to several clubs, although reports indicate former side SC Villa are chasing his signature.

Brian Majwegga

The roving left-back was a released player at KCCA FC; Pulse Sports understands he is set to join Express FC on a one-year deal.
