"FUFA rolled out an application process and we got over 150 coaches including 2 Ugandans who applied for the job. After thorough analysis, the FUFA Executive zeroed down on Mr. Paul Put and we believe he will do a good job." FUFA President Moses Magogo said in the press conference on Thursday, in Mengo.

Meanwhile, Morley Beyekwaso had been taking charge of the Cranes in an interim capacity following the departure of Sredojević.

With the Kenya National team, the Harambee Stars, Put won the 2017 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup on home turf.

Put, 61, has previously managed Burkina Faso and Gambia at international level.

The 67 year-old was also formerly in charge of Jordan but resigned in January 2016 due to health concerns.
