Salim Abdallah Mhene, Simba’s chairman board of directors, issued the apology on Friday evening through a club press release as he urged the Msimbazi faithful to wait for next season.

It’s a rare occurrence, but it is what it is like, they say; another trophyless season at Simba SC has gone by, and the club board have spoken.

Salim Abdallah Mhene, Simba’s chairman board of directors, issued the apology on Friday evening through a club press release as he urged the Msimbazi faithful to wait for next season.

“On behalf of the board of directors, I take this opportunity to apologize to all Simba fans; we didn’t have a good season because we lost all the titles,” Mhene said.

“We have had an injury crisis on the squad, the players we registered this season didn’t perform so well, but that’s football we are now gearing up for next season.”

At the start of the season, the board had set a target of winning a domestic double and reaching the semifinals of the CAF Champions League, but Simba failed on all fronts.

However, Robertinho Oliviera’s charges put up a spirited display in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League against Wydad Casablanca, winning 1-0 in Dar-es-Salaam before losing 4-3 on penalties in Casablanca after a 1-1 aggregate scoreline.

On the other hand, defending champions and arch-rivals, Young Africans have had a fantastic season; Khalid Aucho’s side is four points ahead of Simba and just a win away from retaining the title with three games left.

‘Tiimu ya Wanainchi’ also has one foot in the final of the CAF Confederations Cup final after beating Marumo Gallants 2-0 in the first leg, its also the first time they reached the semifinals of continental football.
