"Sometimes losing is the best option," Wakiso posted on their Official X handle before it was taken down minutes later.

Uganda Premier League outfit Wakiso Giants FC celebrated, in a rather sarcastic tone, their 2-1 Stanbic Uganda Cup defeat to third-tier outfit Pakwach Young Stars on Wednesday.

The loss at St Mary's Omach in Pakwach confirmed the Purple Sharks' elimination from the Cup in the Round of 32.

"Sometimes losing is the best option," Wakiso posted on their Official X handle before it was taken down minutes later.

The post left the club's faithful and the local football fans, many of whom didn't watch the game, bemused at the intended message.

Several top-flight sides have recently laid complaints at having to play and compete on the unplayable pitch conditions of the lower-ranked sides at this level of the Uganda Cup competition.

Meanwhile, Davis Ssali netted Wakiso Giants' only goal of the evening as they bowed out.

Wakiso Giants join Gaddafi FC, UPDF FC and Arua Hill SC (relegated) as the only UPL sides to fail to make the Round of 16.
