The beginning was tough when Erik Ten Hag came to Old Trafford at the start of the season, drawing fears among the faithful that the wait for silverware could further escalate.

Since immemorial, Manchester United has been known for winning trophies, which had eluded them for six years.

The beginning was tough when Erik Ten Hag came to Old Trafford at the start of the season, drawing fears among the faithful that the wait for silverware could further escalate.

However, there has been a mega transformation, and the Dutch tactician has ended the drought within his first seven months in charge of the English giants.

"We are still restoring Manchester United to where they belong, which is to be winning trophies," Ten Hag told Sky Sports in the game's aftermath.

"This is the first one because you have to win the first one, and you can get the inspiration from this that we can do it."

Carlos Henrique Casemiro and the on-form Marcus Rashford scored the two goals as the Red Devils defeated Newcastle United 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

"I want to win because we initially invested in the staff and did an excellent job with the players."

"The staff and players are together. There was a hunger and desire for trophies because Man United stands for trophies," he noted.

It was the sixth time that Man United won the Carabao Cup. However, it was their first trophy since 2017, when they won the UEFA Europa League under the guidance of Jose Mourinho.

Ten Hag's charges are still competing in all other competitions; Man United eliminated Barcelona last week to reach the Europa League Round of 16, where they will face Spanish side Real Betis.

They are in the fifth round of the FA Cup and will host West Ham United on Wednesday.

And most importantly, Man United is back in the English Premier League title race, having started the season at the bottom of the 20-team log.

They are third with 49 points, only eight points adrift of leaders Arsenal who are on 57 points after both sides have played 24 games.
