According to reports, Troost Ekong will be out of action until the late stages of the current season after undergoing surgery

Nigeria's captain William Troost-Ekong displayed an incredible level of dedication and resilience during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Despite sustaining an injury in the second group stage game against Ivory Coast, Troost-Ekong not only continued to play but also excelled, earning him the title of Player of the Tournament. 

His performance was instrumental in guiding the Super Eagles to the final, where they secured a silver medal after a hard-fought match against Ivory Coast.

Troost-Ekong's commitment to his team and country became evident as he played in six of Nigeria's seven matches, scoring three goals in the tournament, including the opener in the final.
