The match holds significant importance for both sides as they continue their preparations for the Women's Olympic Football Tournament Qualifiers.

Tanzania's national women's football team, Twiga Stars, is geared up for an exciting encounter against the Crested Cranes of Uganda.

The two teams will face off in an international friendly game on Friday at MTN-Omondi Stadium.

The match holds significant importance for both sides as they continue their preparations for the Women's Olympic Football Tournament Qualifiers.

The Crested Cranes will be hosting Rwanda on July 12th at Kigali Pele Stadium, with the two teams meeting for the second leg five days later.

The winner on aggregate from that encounter will advance to the second qualification round to face Cameroon.

The Twiga Stars arrived in Uganda on Wednesday evening, eager to put their skills to the test against a formidable opponent like the Crested Cranes.

Despite the withdrawal of Congo, their scheduled opponents in the Olympic Qualifiers, Tanzania remains committed to their preparation and sees the game against Uganda as an excellent opportunity to fine-tune their strategies for the upcoming matches.

Tanzania progress to the next round of the qualifiers where they will meet Botswana who received a bye for the preliminary round.

Twiga Stars coach Bakari Shime stated, "We are happy to be in Uganda and most importantly to play against the Crested Cranes. We believe this is a great test as we prepare for our upcoming games.”

“Congo, who we were supposed to play against in the Olympic Qualifiers, withdrew, but that doesn't mean we should not prepare,” he added.

“We thought the game against Uganda would be a good test as we shift our focus to the second qualification round."

The rivalry between Uganda and Tanzania in women's football has been intense over the years, making this encounter an exciting prospect for fans and players alike.

Twiga Stars captain, Enekia Kasonga Lunyamila, acknowledged the challenge of facing Uganda but expressed her team's readiness for the match.

“Games between Uganda and Tanzania have never been easy over the years. And that is what we expect tomorrow,” she said in the pre match press conference.

“We know Uganda is a good team, but we are ready to face them and hope for the best results."

Tanzania's squad for the friendly match against Uganda includes 20 talented players, all eager to showcase their skills and contribute to the team's success.

The squad comprises Aisha Juma, Noela Luhala, Vaileth Nicholaus, Koku Panga, Neema Paul, Hasnat Ubamba, Veronica Mapunda, Jamila Rahabu Mnunduka, Fatuma Issa and Diana Lucas

The others are; Oppa Clement, Husna Mtunda, Ester Mabanza, Janeth Shija, Dotto Tossy, Rehema Mohamed, Enekia Kasonga Lunyamila, Lidya Maximilian, Ester Maseke, and Winifrida Gerld.
