In a vibrant display of unity and purpose, I&M Bank Uganda joined forces with Ugandans from all corners of the world to celebrate the 69th birthday of His Highness Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, the revered Kabaka of Buganda.

This celebration was marked by the much-anticipated annual Kabaka Birthday Run, which took place today at Lubiri, Mengo, drawing participation from an estimated crowd of over 100,000 people.

I&M Bank Uganda, the proud official bank sponsor of this year's run, has been at the forefront of championing initiatives that address critical issues impacting the Ugandan community.

The 2024 edition of the Kabaka Birthday Run carried profound significance as it aimed to galvanize support in the fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic, with an ambitious goal to eliminate the epidemic by 2030.

The event, which also commemorated Kabaka Ronald Mutebi's 69th birthday, saw an overwhelming turnout of participants from various parts of the globe.

I&M Bank contributed not just through a generous Shs 200 million sponsorship package but also by participating with over 150 dedicated staff members who joined the massive congregation of runners at Mengo.

Speaking to journalists at the event, Sam Ntulume, the Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer of I&M Bank, highlighted the bank's commitment to fostering community well-being and spearheading positive change.

He noted that the Kabaka Birthday Run is more than an event; it is a catalyst for real-world impact, especially in the ongoing battle against HIV/AIDS.

Ntulume further remarked on the alignment of the run with the bank's ethos as it approaches its 50th anniversary.

"Initiatives like the Kabaka Birthday Run enrich our legacy with purpose, uniting us in the fight for a healthier future," he said.

Since its initiation in 2013, the Kabaka Birthday Run has become a fixture in Uganda's social calendar, addressing health crises such as fistula, sickle cell disease, and now HIV/AIDS.

With I&M Bank's unwavering support, this event not only celebrates a significant royal milestone but also embodies the collective resolve of communities to usher in a brighter, healthier future for Uganda.
