Among the East African countries, Uganda came second behind Kenya in 10th, having accumulated 37 medals (8 gold, 8 silver and 21 bronze).

Uganda managed a decent show at the 2023 African Games that concluded on Saturday, a three-week event held across nine venues in three cities; Kumasi, Cape Coast and Accra in Ghana.

Team Uganda accumulated 20 medals to finish 13th on the 54-nations list at the prestigious event.

They collected four gold, six silver and 10 bronze medals, respectively in Ghana.

The coveted gold medals were delivered by badminton (Husinah Kobugabe and Gladys Mbabazi), Cycling (Charles Kagimu), plus the Men and Women's Rugby teams.

Among the East African countries, Uganda came second behind Kenya in 10th, having accumulated 37 medals (8 gold, 8 silver and 21 bronze).

Meanwhile, Egypt topped the medal ranking table with a total of 189 medals (101 gold, 46 silver and 42 bronze).

Behind the North Africans was West African nation Nigeria with 120 medals (47 gold, 33 silver and 40 bronze).

South Africa came third with 106 medals (32 gold, 32 silver and 42 bronze).

To complete the top five was Algeria with 114 medals (29 gold, 38 silver and 47 bronze) and Tunisia with 87 medals (21 gold, 27 silver and 39 bronze).

The host country Ghana came sixth in the final medal standings with 68 medals (19 gold, 29 silver and 20 bronze).

The likes of Morocco, Ethiopia, Mauritius and Kenya complete the top 10 on the list.
