With the funds released, Rams are now ready to play. However, it remains to be seen whether Kobs, their opponents, are prepared for the action.

Rams are ready to face off with Kobs in their Nile Special Rugby Premier League clash at Legends on Saturday.

The club confirmed this Friday afternoon after receiving sponsorship money from the Uganda Rugby Union.

“We have confirmed receipt of the NSRL money this afternoon, and we officially announce that we are ready to meet @Kobsrugby tomorrow at @LegendsKla,” the club communicated via their official Twitter while flashing a receipt.

By Thursday afternoon, the fixture between Rams and Kobs was hanging in the balance as the two sides seemed to agree to a rescheduling for different reasons.

Kobs cited an inability to field a team for the game, while Rams suggested they were too broke to carry on with league games and needed help to facilitate training sessions.

As if that was not enough drama, Walukuba Barbarians joined the conversation by writing to Makerere Impis requesting the postponement of their Saturday fixture due to financial challenges.

The teams’ cries resurrected the conversation regarding sponsorship from Nile Special and why clubs were yet to receive the 10m balance with five games left to the end of the season.

Teams had received 10m in February and were expecting another 10m from the Rugby Union and the sponsor in March.

But with that money taking long to hit the clubs’ accounts, many were finding it hard to negotiate the final bend of the 18-game season.

A meeting held on Thursday evening between club chairpersons and URU has bore fruit, with teams receiving the final disbursement a few hours before Match Day 14 action.

With the funds released, Rams are now ready to play. However, it remains to be seen whether Kobs, their opponents, are prepared for the action.

The Legends outfit claim to be short on numbers, with several injuries within the squad in key positions.

But having petitioned URU to revise its decision regarding the Heathens-Kobs clash of two weeks ago, sources say Kobs are trying to have their case heard before any further engagements.

On Friday, URU came out to emphasize that all Saturday games will go as scheduled.

“NOTE: All games will be played as scheduled this weekend.” URU communicated through their official Twitter handle.

A no-show act for Kobs would attract a walkover and sanctions from the Union but also work in helping Rams in their fight to maintain league status next season.
