Jose Mourinho: The lucrative financial boost of having the Portuguese coach at Roma
Italian club AS Roma have experienced financial growth thanks to the strategic leadership of managerial maestro, Jose Mourinho.
Since the enigmatic Portuguese coach arrived in Rome two years ago, Roma have noticed a positive change across the club which has also translated into a significant financial boost for the Giallorossi.
Mourinho at Roma
The 60-year-old returned to the dugout when he joined the Italians in the summer of 2021.
Mourinho’s first two seasons at the club saw Roma reach the finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League, UECF, and the UEFA Europa League, UEL.
Roma went on to lift the lesser UECF in Mourinho’s first season before losing to UEL owners, Sevilla, in a heated final.
However, his third season as seen signs of the infamous third-season syndrome engulf the Giallorossi, who sit seventh in the Serie A after picking just 17 points from a possible 33.
Despite poor domestic form, Mourinho looks set to lead the club in Europe, where the Romans have won all three of their three matches so far.
Roma’s financial boost
Meanwhile, off the pitch, Roma have benefited from having the former Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United boos in their dugout.
According to a report from Football Italia, ticket sales have soared to over 70 million euros since Mourinho arrived at the club.
His presence has also attracted some top names including Argentine superstar, Paulo Dybala, who joined the club on a free transfer after his contract at Juventus expired, and Belgium’s all-time top scorer, Romelu Lukaku, who arrived from Inter Milan.
With Mourinho’s future looking secured in Rome for the foreseeable future, Roma will continue to bask in the positive changes brought to the club by the Portuguese.
The financial windfall and successes in Europe will serve as a testament to the symbiotic relationship between on-field success, brand elevation, and financial prosperity.
Roma faithful will look to the future with marked anticipation in the hope that Mourinho will lead them to more success on and off the pitch.
