Okello remains a fans’ favourite at Lugogo, having come through the ranks of the club academy before rising to be one of the best players of his generation.

It is understandable if KCCA FC fans are still hurting four days after the conclusion of the Startimes Uganda Premier League.

It must hurt to be so close yet so far from winning the league, and KCCA were on the wrong end of that situation when they lost the title race to rivals Vipers SC on goal difference.

The two sides were tied on 53 points, but Alex Isabirye’s charges won the title with a better goal difference.

And one of KCCA’s mainstays, Allan Okello, has penned a message to everyone at the club appreciating their efforts throughout the season despite coming short in the end.

“I’ve taken the last few days to reflect on the just concluded season. Our dream from the beginning was to win the double this season, and it’s only right to accept that it was a very disappointing season for us,” part of Okello’s statement read.

“While we may not have achieved our ultimate goal, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude.

“A special thank you to our fans for welcoming me back at the club, an experience that I will always cherish and take with me forever. Despite the setbacks we faced, you never gave up, and always pushed us until the very end.”

Okello remains a fans’ favourite at Lugogo, having come through the ranks of the club academy before rising to be one of the best players of his generation.

His success earned him a move to Algerian side Paradou, but he returned to the club on loan for the season.

To his fellow players, Okello urged them to pick lessons and move on.

“To my fellow teammates, there’s no failure in football, we always learn from even the harshest of experiences and I strongly believe you still have whatever it takes to achieve the dream at this great football club come next season.

“To everyone at the club, thank you for your unwavering support and belief. Together, we have created memories that will last a lifetime, and I am forever grateful to be a part of this great football club. More Than Just A Club.”

It remains to be seen what the next step for Okello will be.

As of now, the forward was summoned as part of the Uganda Cranes team preparing to face Algeria in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers on June 18.
