KCCA FC patron Erias Lukwago who also doubles as the Kampala Lord Mayor has made reshuffles in the club board of directors. Eng Andrew Sserunjogi Mukiibi is the new KCCA FC chairman, replacing Martin Ssekajja

Eng. Andrew Sserunjogi Mukiibi is the new KCCA FC chairman, Pulse Sports can confirm.

Sserunjogi replaces Martin Ssekajja, who took over the role from Julius Raymond Kabugo in 2018.

The former chairman, who has since left KCCA, resigned his role to open up the vacuum that Sserunjogi will now fill.

In a letter seen by Pulse Sports, Ssekajja, without going into details, notified KCCA Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka of his intentions to step down from the role.

“Please accept this letter as formal notification of my intention to resign from my position as Chairman KCCA FC. In consideration of the current status of the club and licensing plans, I’m happy to hold fort for the period until appointment of a substantive Chairperson,” Ssekajja wrote in his July 26, 2023 notice.

Sserunjogi is not known in football circles but the authority feels he is the right man to handle the job of overseeing progress at the club.

He comes in at a time KCCA FC is trying to get back to winning ways and must work with new head coach Sergio Traguil and his team to return silverware to Lugogo.

KCCA’s last bit of success came under Mike Mutebi in the 2019 CECAFA Kagame Cup played in Rwanda.

The construction of the MTN Omondi Stadium is the other major task Sserunjogi will have to oversee to its completion to allow KCCA FC settle in one place.

The club will see its CAF Confederation Cup Preliminary game against Abu Salem of Libya will be played at Vipers’ home ground St. Mary’s Kitende because Lugogo does not meet the minimum standards required to host matches of that magnitude.

Sserunjogi will be deputized by Aggrey Ashaba, who held the same role (Vice Chairperson) under Ssekajja.

Club legends Jackson Mayanja and Tom Lwanga are some of the members on the board.

Ivan Kiirya, who headed KCCA Volleyball, is one of the new faces on the board.
