Mubiru comes in as a direct replacement for Portuguese national, Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil, who was sacked after just four months in the seat, following woeful results in the league and the CAF Confederation Cup.

Mubiru has reportedly been chosen after careful consideration from the KCCA board, that had initially been at cross-roads between the latter and Alex Isabirye.

And, while a section of the board preferred Isabirye for his quick-fix approach, Mubiru was the eventual choice for the long-term project and club's identity on the pitch.

The latter is only making a return to a club he knows so well, having held the mantle in 2014, as he took over from George Best Nsimbe.

Mubiru's most recent coaching role was at Tanzania Premier League side Mbeya City FC, which he left towards the start of the current 2023/24 season.

The former Proline FC, Vipers SC and Police FC coach has since been without a coaching job.

In September this year, Mubiru refused FUFA's offer to take charge of the National Senior Women's Football team, the Crested Cranes.

At KCCA, he will have the immediate task of getting the club from its current ditch, as they currently sit second from the bottom of the league table, having collected just one point in six matches.
