Fast forward, the 33-year-old is now pursuing a coaching career, having recently attained a CAF C license before heading to the Juventus Academy in Nanjing, China, to further his coaching knowledge.

Saddam Juma always used the pitch to express himself when he was still active, putting up top performances in clubs like KCCA FC, Express FC, SC Villa and Vipers that he featured for in the top flight.

Fast forward, the 33-year-old is now pursuing a coaching career, having recently attained a CAF C license before heading to the Juventus Academy in Nanjing, China, to further his coaching knowledge.

"It's time we focus on the four pillars of the player's pathway," Saddam tweeted.

"One of the key pillars is S&C (strength and conditioning), which is not given much attention, or we don't have specialists in the field, or we just don't care?"

"Which I think has also contributed greatly to the alarming results at the top (Clubs)," the tweet added.

The CAF C license holder added that the four major pillars that need to be worked on in Ugandan Football are Technical, tactical, Physical and mental.

"But again, we need to go back to the basics as a Nation and start right from the grassroots in making sure the players and coaches are knowledgeable about the game and the methods of teaching the four pillars are emphasized."

"Technical, tactical, physical and mental, with all that and good infrastructures, equipment and coaches, we hope our game will grow.

"However, this will take some time since growth is step by step, no shortcuts to success," Saddam noted.

Uganda has consistently, over the years, been lauded for having immense talent. However, the talent has yet to be natured, including Saddam Juma.

Still, with more knowledge being shared by players like him on how best young players can be developed, it remains to be seen if clubs will adhere accordingly.
