It's expected to be a tough matchup for IUEA against last season's runners-up and one of this edition's favourites, SLAU, on Friday at Kansanga.

International University of East Africa (IUEA) will be keen on picking their maiden Pepsi University Football League victory when they host heavyweights St. Lawrence University (SLAU).

It's expected to be a tough matchup for IUEA against last season's runners-up and one of this edition's favourites, SLAU, on Friday at Kansanga.

IUEA were held to a one-all stalemate by Gulu University in the first match last week, but head coach Hassan Wasswa feels he can guide his well-oiled team past St Lawrence.

“St. Lawrence is a strong team. They have made it to the finals for two consecutive seasons and have produced many fantastic talents like Kasule Ibrahim and Sematimba Titus,” Wasswa noted to the media.

“So they are a good team, and they score a lot of goals as they did against Nkumba, but I know we can get a result against them,” he added.

On the other hand, St. Lawrence, who got their campaign off to a comfortable 3-1 win over Nkumba University, are raring to keep the momentum.

“As a team, we are comfortable. The boys know what they need to do,” head coach Davis Nnono told the media.

“We cannot take IUEA for granted, especially now that they have an experienced international as their coach. Still, we are confident, and I know we shall get the result.”

Meanwhile, in the other Group E game played yesterday, Nkumba thrashed Gulu 4-0, to ascend to the top with three points.

St. Lawrence sits second with three points as well, while the International University of East Africa and Gulu occupy third and fourth, respectively with a point apiece.
