And forward Fahad Bayo, who netted Uganda's consolation against Guinea, has underlined his optimism the team is ready to mount a fight and respond against the fellow CECAFA side.

Uganda Cranes will need to instantly bounce back from Friday's heartbreak against Guinea when they visit Somalia in the second World Cup qualification game.

The Cranes fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Guineans but now have a chance to respond on Tuesday at the Berkane Municipal Stadium.

And forward Fahad Bayo, who netted Uganda's consolation against Guinea, has underlined his optimism the team is ready to mount a fight and respond against the fellow CECAFA side.

"We've managed to correct our mistakes and are ready for the next game against Somalia," Bayo said in the lead to the Tuesday game.

"The boys are ready for the game," he reiterated before adding: "As a striker, it wasn't enough against Guinea, but I just have to keep scoring goals."

Bayo's goal on Friday made it four strikes for the poacher in five World Cup qualifiers (including the 2022 World Cup qualification campaign).

The feat had him tie with the legendary David Obua as the players with the most goals in World Cup qualifying history.

"I will keep scoring more goals so we can win our next games," the MFK Vyskov goal-scorer said.

The Tuesday game is a must-win encounter for the Cranes, should they hope to stand any chances of making the finals of the global showpiece.

In Group G, Uganda sits fifth with no points, while Somalia occupies the base. Algeria (six), Guinea (three), Mozambique (three), and Botswana (none), who are the other members of the group, lie first, second, third and fourth, respectively.
