Team Kenya captain to the Commonwealth Youth Games Amos Kipkemoi has exuded confidence ahead of the global event in Trinidad and Tobago set to kick off on Wednesday, August 4, and run all the way to August 11.

The team consists of 36 athletes from seven different disciplines and Kipkemoi believes everyone is capable of bringing a medal back home.

The 400m Hurdles specialist disclosed that their training has been seamless and noted that at the moment, they are on the right course as they seek to get Kenya to the top.

“We are ready…we have prepared well and everybody is in good shape. I am very confident that when we go there (Trinidad and Tobago), we shall bring many medals.

"Everyone is capable of bagging a gold medal and even silver medals. We have invested our time and commitment in training hard and I’m sure it will bear good fruit. I’m sure our mixed relay team will bring a medal,” Kipkemoi said.

He also extended a hand of gratitude to the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) and Athletics Kenya for their commitment to making their training camp a success.

The Kericho-based athlete also appreciated Athletics Kenya for giving him a chance to compete in international events that have given him a chance to be selected for the Commonwealth Youth Games.

Kipkemoi was part of the Kenyan charge that went for the East Africa U18/20 Championships and the CAA Africa U18/20 Championships where he finished in the podium bracket in both.

“I also want to thank our coaches who have walked with us during our time at the camp. NOC-K has been good to us and they have made sure that we are comfortable. We can’t afford to let our country down because they have supported us well,” he said.
