I&M Bank Uganda has announced a Shs 200m sponsorship the Kabaka Birthday Run 2024 slated for April 7th.

The formalization of this partnership came with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at the Buganda Kingdom's business headquarters in Bulange, Mengo, marking a continued commitment from I&M Bank towards supporting the kingdom's causes.

The ceremony was witnessed by key figures from the Buganda Kingdom, including the Deputy Katikkiro and Minister of Finance, Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, and Owek. Remmy Kisakye, CEO of Majestic Brands,

This partnership not only signifies a financial contribution but also represents a shared commitment to community welfare and the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Owek. Nsibirwa commended I&M Bank for their steadfast support: “It’s been four years since we started this conversation, and year after year, I&M bank Uganda has committed to partnering with Buganda Kingdom on several causes."

“I am glad you’ve taken a bold step by committing over Shs 200m, towards His Highness Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s Birthday Run. Your unwavering support will be very instrumental in the fight against HIV AIDS. thank you,” the deputy Katikiro added.

I&M Bank's CEO, Robin Bairstow, reaffirmed the bank's dedication to participating in community-impacting activities: “As I&M Bank, we are honoured to stand alongside Buganda Kingdom on this noble cause.”

“The Kabaka Birthday Run presents us a grand opportunity to make a tangible difference by giving back and leading the charge for change and transformation in the community, especially in the collective efforts to end the AIDS epidemic," added Bairstow.

This year's run is not just a celebration of His Highness Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s birthday but also a campaign to raise funds and awareness for the fight against non-communicable diseases, especially HIV/AIDS.

Since its inception in 2013, the event has played a critical role in raising funds and awareness for various health issues.

In addition to the financial support, I&M Bank has also facilitated the public's participation by offering select branches as official kit-selling points, making it easier for individuals to contribute to this noble cause.

The bank's commitment reflects a broader goal of fostering a healthier society and supporting the cultural and social initiatives of the Buganda Kingdom.
