SLAU have already showcased their might in this edition, convincingly winning their first two games and now target an extension to their perfect run.

Despite being the overwhelming favourites for this season's Pepsi University Football League, St. Lawrence University (SLAU) will not take strugglers Gulu University for granted when they meet on Thursday.

SLAU have already showcased their might in this edition, convincingly winning their first two games and now target an extension to their perfect run.

They currently lead proceedings in Group E with six points, having beaten Nkumba 3-1 and IUEA 3-1, and they will be one step away from the knockout stages, should they triumph over GULU.

“There are no easy games. All teams come with the mentality to try and beat us, but we are ready for the challenge. We will do our best and try to win,” SLAU head coach Nnono Ssozi told the press.

“We have to just play our normal game and try to do the right things. And of course, our fans, we really depend on them as the 12th man and should turn up in large numbers just like in the last game and give the team support,” he added.

On the other hand, Gulu University head coach Robert Omony is confident they can pick their first win despite conceding to the stout opposition at hand.

“A win would be a perfect result, a draw would be a good result, but we are aware of the team we are taking on; they mean business, but we have a plan and hope it works,” Omony said.

Nkumba University put Gulu University to the sword winning the game 4-0 in Group E action on Wednesday

“St Lawrence is a big challenge. It is one of the best teams in the league; thus, all our departments must be on alert if we must have a better performance," he summed.

While SLAU top the table with six points, GULU lie rock-bottom with one point in two games. Nkumba University and IUEA sit second and third with four and two points, respectively, with three matches played.
