Madondo, Chandiga throw hats in the ring with Nile Special Pool Open qualification
Ceasar Chandiga has qualified for the 2023 Nile Special National Open Pool Championships that will take place from November 9th to 11th at the Lugogo Arena.
Chandiga is arguably the best and most on-form pool player in the country for the last three years.
Due to his involvement in semi-professional pool in Zambia, the Gulu-born player did not compete in any official games or tournaments organized by the Pool Association of Uganda last year.
That meant that he was not ranked and, therefore, had to toil the rocky path of qualification.
Chandiga chose his home city of Gulu, where he whizzed through to win the regional finals at the Blackspot Bar on Saturday.
He qualified alongside first-timers Samson Odong, whom he beat in the final and Haron Opio who finished third.
In the ladies category, former Ronz Pool Club player Aisha Madondo cruised to the finals alongside debutants Brenda Akiror and Deborah Ibenu.
The three qualified through the regionals that were held at the Nature Gardens in Soroti.
Madondo was a member of the Uganda Pool Cranes that won the 2016 AAPA Blackball Championships.
