Stanbic Black Pirates head coach Marvin Odongo does not agree with statements portraying his side as untouchable in Ugandan rugby.
Despite winning the first two circuits of the Nile Special Sevens Series, the tactician believes there is still a lot of work for Pirates to do if they are to go all the way and lift the overall title.
“I don’t think untouchable is the right way to phrase it,” Odongo told Pulse Sports when asked about the team’s perfect start to the Sevens season.

Now on 44 points and enjoying the view from the top, the Pirates will go into their home circuit, the Rujumba Sevens, as overwhelming favourites for maximum points.
“In Jinja, we nearly lost to Rhinos, and in Kitgum, we nearly lost to Impis,” he added.
The Sea Robbers needed to come back from being on the wrong end of a 14-00 score to win 19-14 against Rhinos in the Group stages of the Stone City Sevens and also needed an Isaac Massa sudden death try to get past Makerere Impis in the Kitgum Sevens quarter-finals.

RUGBY Pirates lift Kitgum Sevens
To reach the final, Pirates brushed aside Platinum Credit Heathens in another one-sided encounter ending 24-07.
“The goal is to win, but it is a process,” Odongo noted.
If there were any doubts about the Pirates’ intentions, those must have been cleared after Sunday’s 24-00 pummeling of defending champions Jinja Hippos.
“We had a decent Oay one in Kitgum but got a bit of a scare in the quarters against Impis. Heathens in the semis was not easy as well.
“After the scare, the boys were awakened and knew that they could lose.

RUGBY No Kitgum Sevens on NBS Sport
NBS Sport telecast the Nile Special Rugby Premier League last season and started the Sevens season by showing the first round in Jinja.

Now on 44 points and top of the log, the Pirates will turn their focus to the Rujumba Sevens slated for July 22-23 at Kings Park Arena.
