Wambua has named the two Moran players who left a positive impression on him for future Shujaa call ups at the Safari Sevens.

Shujaa head coach Kevin Wambua has revealed the two players from the Morans setup that impressed him the most during the recently concluded Safari Sevens tournament that Kenya 7s successfully retained.

Wambua named two different squads for both Kenyan teams, Shujaa and Morans for the tournament. Shujaa comprised the more established names in Kenyan rugby while the Morans set-up consisted of young upcoming players itching to make an impression.

Although Shujaa managed to win the title quite comfortably, Morans had to do with a fifth-place finish after failing to make the semi-finals.

Nonetheless, it did not stop Wambua from being impressed with a couple of players from the setup.

One of the players he praised was newbie Chrisant Ojwang, who was co-captain of the Morans despite getting into the setup late.

“I think Chrisant Ojwang, playing his first time for Kenya did an amazing job,” Wambua told Pulse Sports.

“Being his first time playing for Kenya, he did an outstanding job. He came late into the set up but still did an outstanding job. I am so happy for him.”

Wambua also heaped praise on Floyd Wabwire.

“Floyd Wabwire was outstanding on the wing. He scored a lot of tries. Those two players were very outstanding. It was a team effort, though, but those two were very good.”

Wambua is expected to name his squad for the upcoming Dubai Sevens invitational set up in December, which will act as the last tournament they will participate in before they launch their Challenger Series Campaign.

Given he has had a willingness to give chances to alot of young players, the two will be fancying their chances at being the next two players to be promoted to the senior set up.

Shujaa are placed in Pool C of the men’s  category, alongside Speranza 22, R10C Selects, and Wailers.

After starting their pool campaign at 2:40 pm EAT on Friday, December 1, against R1OC Selects, they will then play a match against Wailers at 2:20 pm on Saturday, December 2, and finish their pool stage with a clash against Speranza 22 at 5:00 pm on the same day.
