Haruna Lukwago and Saidi Mayanja were handed opportunities at right back and in midfield; the latter headed in KCCA's second goal of the day to repay the manager's trust, while the former had a solid shift in defence.
"You could see some players losing possession, losing passes and so on," Mayanja noted before revealing that he took off defender Geoffrey Wasswa because the team had conceded a chap goal.
"I immediately I took him off because I don't like this kind of naivety as a defender.
"He's a national player, and you don't just give away a goal like that."
With KCCA leading 2-0, Davis Ssekajja's shot from outside the box was parried into the path of white shirts, and Charles Bbale capitalized to halve the deficit.

Players of immense quality and talent have looked off-colour at Lugogo the last few seasons, promising much but delivering little, if anything.
But goals from Rogers Mato and Julius Poloto ensured the hosts took maximum points to move to within two points of the Jogoos.
Tshisungu Kankonde had given KCCA the lead after benefiting from goalkeeper Martin Elungat's mistake to head in.

Mayanja has emphasized two things since his appointment; fitness levels and players' mindset.
"My to make sure that the boys' mindset is ok and to believe in every player and to show them that this club is a great club.
"If you are playing for KCCA, you don't bring jokes here. This is one of the greatest clubs we have here in Uganda, and to show them that we can still win this cup.
"I set my goal that I need the trophy, so if I need a trophy, there is no joking."
KCCA can go top of the log by winning their two games in hand, but with Vipers in pursuit, the title race will undoubtedly go until the final day.
