But since then, Sport-S have dominated the tie, making light work of OBB, first in the final of the National Club Championship held in Iganga and in the league opener at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

The last two games between Sport-S and OBB have left the latter with more questions than answers.

OBB were responsible for Sport-S’ league exit last season, defeating Warren Muhangi’s side 2-0 in the semi-final series to progress to the finals.

A 2-1 triumph over Nemostars then handed the Iganga based outfit the National Volleyball League trophy on their first time of asking.

But since then, Sport-S have dominated the tie, making light work of OBB, first in the final of the National Club Championship held in Iganga and in the league opener at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

The two sides face off again this Saturday in the second round encounter and it is OBB who will be looking to avoid a third straight defeat at the hands of the table leaders.

On track

Between the club championship final and now, OBB have had three coaches.

Lawrence Yakan left immediately after that 3-0 loss in Iganga and was replaced by Luke Eittit.

Eittit lasted five games and was replaced by Johnson Kawenyera.

The former Ndejje Elites tactician is the man tasked with stopping Sport-S league dominance that has seen the Nsambya outfit winning 12 games in a row.

With their 9-3 record, OBB have collected 27 points and lie third on the log.

Sport-S, meanwhile have 35 points from 12 games and have dropped just three sets all season.

“It will be the ultimate test for me and the players,” Kawenyera told Pulse Sports ahead of Saturday’s game.

Six games played by OBB under the tutelage of Kawenyera have resulted in six wins and just one set lost.

Not a bad return at all but Sport-S are a different animal altogether.

Only KAVC has been able to put up resistance against the Club Championship winners, losing 3-2 and 3-1 in the first and second round games.

The other games have been straightforward for the table leaders.

Sport-S’ middle game improved greatly with the addition of Samuel Engwau and Emmanuel Okia.

Thon Maker, Augustine Odongo and Michael Mangon have also been a menace to the opposition's net defence all season.

But OBB will rely on the explosiveness of Kelvin Kiplagat and Cosmas Apunyo’s tricky serve to trouble Sport-S.

Volleyball is a game of many mistakes but OBB cannot afford to blink against a high-flying Sport-S.

A regular season double is in sight for Sport-S and like was the case last season, OBB will be out to make sure it doesn't happen.

Family affair

The biggest subplot of the game will be the battle of brothers pitting OBB opposite Jonathan Tumukunde and his brother Johnson Rukundo of Sport-S.

The two played against each other for the first time last season when Tumukunde was featuring for Nemostars.

Rukundo has had the better of Tumukunde in the last two encounters and this will be the time for the opposite to make amends.
