The course attracted several active players with ambitions of transitioning into coaching.
Of the 41 aspiring coaches who took part in the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Level One Coaching Course held in Kampala, Uganda, 39 were able to excel and get certified.
Participants from Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania attended the five-day course held at GNS Hotel and the Old Kampala Arena and were subjected to practical and theory examinations.
Only two of these failed the practical examination, something that automatically rules one out of sitting for the theory test.

The course has also attracted eight aspiring coaches from Kenya and five from Rwanda, with Uganda having the biggest chunk, 29.
“It was a vibrant class, and it is no surprise that the majority did well,” FIVB Instructor Kalny Matus said at the closing ceremony held Friday evening.
With Uganda having the biggest number of participants, Uganda Volleyball Federation Technical Director Tonny Lakony appealed to the attendees to put into practice what has been taught to them to help in grooming volleyball talent in the country.
“Do not just hang your certificate in the living room but rather go out there and use your skills to grow the game,” Lakony urged the now-certified coaches.

Omuriwe was selected alongside Iran’s Maedeh Borhani Esfahani and will have Canada’s national women’s team head coach Shannon Winzer as their sports-specific mentor.

Emma Kato of Ndejje Sharks and Nemostars’ middle blocker Fahad Zungu were some of the players in attendance.
Sport-S head coach Malic Damulira was the best participant at the end of the course.
