The Jinja side has been touted as one of the firm contenders for promotion this season after acquiring the services of Ssempijji and a couple of experienced legs.

Jinja North United’s head coach Sadiq Ssempijji believes that his team was the better side on Thursday despite sharing spoils with Booma in their opening game of the betPawa FUFA Big League in Masindi.

The Jinja side has been touted as one of the firm contenders for promotion this season after acquiring the services of Ssempijji and a couple of experienced legs.

The team was down after Dickson Niwamanya’s 15th-minute goal but recovered early in the second half to snatch the point.

“We were a bit down in the first 15 minutes where we conceded the goal but regained our shape,” Ssempijji commented after settling for the point.

The coach has rallied his team to reorganize fast before facing another potential contender Police FC, next week in their first home game.

“We returned a better team in the second half after getting our act right and pushing for that goal. I think we were a better team than them overall but we now go back to rectify a few issues before facing Police in a game that we must win at home,” he added.

Ssempijji, who guided Mbarara City to the topflight last season, has emphasized the need to win their home games as they played a key part in the race last year.
