Tushabe expressed that the team takes valuable lessons regarding playing format and orchestration of moves, which they will apply in the upcoming National Hockey League starting March 4.

Weatherhead Hockey Club captain Moses Lubega says the team return from the Africa Cup for Club Championships with their heads held high despite losing all their five matches in a disastrous return to the games.

Weatherhead were the whipping boys of the tournament, which began with a 3-0 loss to Egyptian side Zamalek, followed by defeats from Kenyan teams Western Jaguars and Batali Sugar, and an 8-1 loss to Ghana's Exchequers.

Tushabe expressed that the team takes valuable lessons regarding playing format and orchestration of moves, which they will apply in the upcoming National Hockey League starting March 4.

The tournament served as a preparation for the league, and the team is looking forward to a better performance.

“We have learnt some new lessons in regard to the playing format and orchestration of moves. We are going to apply them soon, starting with the National Hockey League,” Tushabe noted.

Weatherhead’s continental voyage was a disaster waiting to happen, starting with their preparations that were soiled with financial struggles, as the club depended entirely on funds from individuals, which became a burden.

Additionally, the change in the tournament venue from Zambia to South Africa and eventually to Kenya disorganised the club.

Other Ugandan teams such as Wananchi and Deliverance Church failed to take part in the tournament over the same concerns.

Stephen Juuko, the club chairman, shared that they had given up on participating in the tournament, thinking it was in South Africa and had to hustle for finances when the venue changed.

Weatherhead also faced complacency and indiscipline, which significantly affected their performance. Coach Vincent Kasasa left the club due to his busy schedule, with the club failing to find a replacement.

Meanwhile. star player Ashraf Tumwesigye was sanctioned for misbehaviour in camp. Tumwesigye was referred to the club's disciplinary committee, and will not be allowed around the squad until the issue is sorted.
