AFCON 2023 Peseiro calls up 2 U-20 players, Osimhen, others for Nigeria vs Guinea Bissau

Nigeria will host Guinea Bissau at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, on Friday, March 24.

Super Eagles head Jose Peseiro has made known his selected 23-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying fixtures against Guinea-Bissau. 

Between Friday, March 24 and Monday, March 27, Nigeria's senior men's football national team will be engaged in two qualifying fixtures with the West African side.

The first of the two games will see the Super Eagles host Guinea Bissau at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Peseiro's 23-man squad for Guinea-Bissau game

Of the 23-man squad, two: captain Daniel Bameyi and goalkeeper Chijioke Aniagboso, are members of Nigeria's Flying Eagles team who won bronze at the recently concluded Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Troost-Ekong still nursing injury, Peseiro says

Already, Super Eagles centre-back William Troost-Ekong has been ruled of the qualifying clash with the Djurtus following an injury he suffered in February.

According to Peseiro, Troost-Ekong is working a lot to attain full fitness, but would not be fit in time for either fixture.

At the moment, the Super Eagles lead Group A, following earlier wins over Liberia and Sao Tome.
